Class RH’s Forest School Morning: A World of Wonder and Discover
Class RH’s first week back in forest school was packed with adventure, creativity, and plenty of learning through play
. The morning began with a thoughtful discussion about ethical picking—teaching the children to respect nature by only taking what is needed and leaving plenty for wildlife. This important lesson set the tone for the day and inspired the children to create beautiful nature crowns, each unique and bursting with colour.
Choosing time brought a flurry of activity. The children explored water play with guttering pipes, ducks, and fish, mastering the art of pouring, squirting, and moving water. Potion making was a hit, especially with the fragrant lemon balm, and creative minds got busy crafting peg butterflies. The new Aqua play area was a big draw, sparking curiosity and teamwork.
Meanwhile, the sandpit became a prehistoric playground with dinosaurs and water, while others enjoyed the mud kitchen or made cheerio bird feeders—a perfect activity for budding birdwatchers. Some children discovered fairy houses hidden in the forest, while others built mini dens for shelter. The air was filled with laughter and chatter as bubbles floated by, children balanced on the slack line, and some relaxed in hammocks.
Throughout the morning, there were many moments of cooperation, problem-solving, and sharing. Forest school really is a place where imaginations soar and friendships grow, and Class RH’s first week back was a wonderful reminder of just how magical outdoor learning can be.
