Year 3G Sewing Workshop
This event will take place between 1:45pm and 3:00pm on 28/01/2025
“Sewing Strikes Back!” Inspire Workshop We have had a magnificent half term working on our ‘Superheroes’ topic! The children have not only been exploring fictious heroes but “real-life” heroes whose achievements have left a long-lasting mark on society but the world, by being courageous advocates for change. At the end of the month, the children will have a visit from Chrissy Marshall from ‘Sensible Pencil’ where the children will learn how to draw cartoons and caricatures. In Art, we have studied one of the world’s most famous pop artists, Roy Lichtenstein - the children looked at a variety of his work. They studied his use of bold colours, black outlines and ‘ben day dots’. After this, they created their very own ‘Pop Art’ design using their names and using his techniques. During PE lessons, the children have been busy creating their own ‘Superhero v. Supervillains’ dance. They have been using their imaginations to work together to develop a sequence of movements in time to music. Every superhero needs a cape! As part of our Design Technology work, the children are going to design, make and evaluate their own superhero capes. Therefore, they will be designing and sewing their own superhero capes, using a running stitch and learning how to chain stitch. The sewing sessions will be taking place on the following days: Tuesday 28th January, Wednesday 29th January and Thursday 30th January. - Please note all the workshops will start 1.45pm Due to numbers and hall space, we ask that only one adult per child attend the workshop. Unfortunately, due to health and safety, we also ask that no siblings or other children attend.
