Pre-School Forest School Fun!

Our first pre-school taster session was a vibrant celebration of outdoor learning and fun! Led by our Forest School lead and Nursery lead, the session welcomed parents and children to explore our natural play space together. The children’s laughter and excitement filled the air as they discovered the joys of nature.
There was no shortage of activities to spark curiosity and creativity. Children dug into the mud kitchen and sand pit, crafting imaginative worlds and concocting explosive (well, fizzy!) volcano experiments with bicarbonate and vinegar. They tried their hands at using a bow saw, hatchet, and mallet to shape semi-circles from wood, which they decorated as birds—or whatever their imaginations dreamed up.
The sensory play was a hit: cleaning toy animals in foamy soapy bubbles, rescuing ducks from the guttering, and experimenting with the water wall. Giant bubbles floated through the air, and everyone enjoyed chasing them. Little explorers made bird feeders, mixed colour-changing potions, and investigated floating and sinking objects.
Pretend play thrived in the mud kitchen and with Aqua Play, while bug hunts brought out budding naturalists. The slack lines and hammocks offered new challenges and relaxation. The session wrapped up with a shared snack and a story in the cosy bell tent, creating a sense of community and connection.
This first session truly captured the spirit of forest school—fostering friendship, exploration, and a love for the outdoors.
It was great meeting new children and parents, our next session is on July 9th, 12:45-3pm. You can sign up here.
