The chicks have arrived! 5M managed to fill their marble jar and chose to have chicks. Currently they are still in their eggs in the incubator, being kept nice and warm ready to hatch.
Tuesday 5th June
We have some cracking news! One of the eggs has started to crack which means the 'pipping' process has started! We have also heard the chicks chirping, which mean they have entered the air sac. 4A visited and they were being very noisy for them!

Well the chicks have had an eggstra busy night! We have 11 little chicks and 5 still yet to hatch! 3 have arrived this morning! They will stay in the incubator for about 24 hours until they are fluffy and fully dry. We are setting up the brooder box today ready for them to move homes.
Thursday 7th June 2018
It's moving day for some of the chicks! They've gone to 4A for the rest of their time at Abbey.
5M were on a trip today so Miss Humphries, Miss Westwood and Miss Jones have kept the chicks company. They've also had visits from other year groups today too!
Friday 8th June
The chicks are starting to feel more at home now, jumping around and enjoying an audience! They love posing for a photo...
Saturday 9th June 2018
The chicks have had a lovely night sleep and ate a lot of food! Now they're tucking into breakfast with a cuppa (water)!
Sunday 10th June 2018
Morning from the chicks! They've definitely developed an appetite! They've taken to sitting in their food bowl too.
Monday 11th June 2018
5M have been reunited with their chicks! They have grown so much. We sat in a circle and we let the chicks run about... And poo! Then we all got to hold and stroke the chicks. After this, green table replaced the bedding, food and water before we went home.
Tuesday 12th June 2018
Today we built a bigger home for the chicks as they are growing so much! Now they have space to run around and get some fresh air, whilst still being able to sit under the lamp and warm up if they need it.
Wednesday 13th June 2018
It's our last but one day with the chicks and we want to make the most of them whilst they are still here. We will be very sad to see them go! :(
Today blue table cleaned out and replaced the bedding in the brooder box and their run.
Thursday 14th June 2018
Today is the day we say goodbye! We have loved having them here and don't want to go! We have noticed how big they are getting now, so it will be nice to know that they are going back to a big farm with lots of space!
Purple table replaced the bedding today.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
