We are aware that there are lots of routines to remember, so a few of those which we feel are useful are detailed below:
PE
Each class will have a P.E session each week:
2G – Friday
2S – Wednesday
2J – Tuesday
Please ensure that your child has a named PE kit in school (white t-shirt, blue shorts and black pumps). We ask that hair is tied back and earrings are not worn on your child’s PE days.
Spellings
Spellings will be given out to the children for the whole half term. They will be tested on Fridays. We will be sending home the children's spelling tests so you can continue to work on any mistakes with your child. You will find the spellings attached to this page.
Children will be taught different spelling patterns and rules within Phonics and English lessons. It would be great if you could help your children with these spellings throughout the year. You can download these words below in the High Frequency Words and Common Exception Words documents. These are the words the children are expected to read and spell correctly by the end of year 2. You will also find the end of Key Stage requirements in the National Curriculum.
Children will also be able to practice their spellings at home using Spelling Frame. They will have a login and password in their reading journal. There are lots of fun games to play, to make the task of leaning these spellings a little more fun. Please help your child login and enjoy the games online.
Homework
Children will receive E-learning for their homework. This will be on Education City and Purple Mash. The children can also use Times Table Rock Stars and Numbots at home too, along with Spelling Frame. There will be battles set on there for them to compete in.
We expect the children to practise their times tables (2,5 and 10), learn their spellings and read every night.
Access TimesTable Rockstars here
