Welcome to Year 6!
A very warm welcome to our year group page and to the start of term. It is lovely to see all of the children back in school after so long, looking so smart and ready for the rest of the year ahead. We will try our best to keep this page updated throughout the year with key information that you may need to know, such as homework tasks, spellings and curriculum events. Thank you in advance for your on-going support.

Parents, we need your help!
Please can you encourage and remind children to wear black school shoes to school and not trainers. Our children look so smart when they are in full school uniform and we would like the same standards for everyone.
Also, a reminder that mobile phones are not permitted in school, unless you have completed a permission form. (Please contact the office should you require a form) Phones brought into school must be turned off and put away. They must not be taken out or used on school premises.
Thank you for your continued support throughout this academic year.
Just a quick reminder that all children must have a P.E. kit in school every day; if kit is not in school, a letter from the office will be sent home with your child. If there is any reason why a child can not participate in P.E. lessons, please send your child with a note explaining the reasons why.
This term, 6M will have P.E. on Wednesday, 6V on Tuesday and 6J will have P.E. on Friday. All classes will take part in basketball and gymnastics during this term. Could you please ensure that children have appropriate kit in school.
P.E. kit consists of:
Children will have regular spellings to learn at home and we would really like everyone to spend time reading with their children at home and discussing the books that you are reading.
We will be using www.spag.com for Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar practise and may use this as a resource during the year.
We will also be asking children to make use of the Rock Star Times Tables web site, where we will set activities and inter-class battles.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any trouble accessing these sites.
Continue to enjoy reading!
All staff in Year 6 love to read and our aim is to get our children as passionate as we are. We want children to read books that they are interested in, with characters and plots that they can relate to! Every child will have an individual reading book in school; these are labelled with coloured stickers that represent a suitable level of challenge for their reading age. Many children are also free readers and we strongly encourage them to read suitable books from...anywhere! We would like all children to have their reading books in school every day so that they can read at any given opportunity. Please encourage your children to keep reading regularly and discuss what they have read, making it part of their everyday routine.
Open your mind. Open a book.
