Dear parents and carers
Reception will be having a Dinosaur Day on Thursday 21st March 2024. This will take place during the school day.
Children are able to wear any dinosaur themed clothes they might have, or the colour green. You do not need to buy any expensive fancy dress.
Please be mindful that the children will be wearing these clothes to the Spring Bop too (if they are going).

Dear class RGD,
Our class will be the next class to take part in Forest School.
The sessions will begin next Friday - 1st March 2024. There will be 5 sessions in total, 4 before Easter and the final session being Friday 12th April. The school calendar has been updated with the dates.
Please can you complete the attached permission form (a hard copy will be sent home with your child), as some of the questions on there have changed.
--------------------------------------------
Forest School Clothing
A part of the ethos of Forest School is “there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing”. With comfortable and appropriate clothing, all children can enjoy the Forest School experience in all weathers.
It is recommended that all children wear the following kit for the days they take part in Forest School.
Boots – we find that a good pair of walking boots are much better than Wellington boots. Plastic wellies offer very poor insulation and children’s feet quickly get cold. If they must wear wellies, then several pairs of socks are essential. Please ensure they have other shoes to change into when they have finished their session.
Long trousers – both in summer and winter, to keep warm and to protect from scratches, bites and sunburn.
Long sleeved top – both in summer and winter, to keep warm and to protect from scratches, bites and sunburn.
Hat (for sun or warmth depending on the season) and gloves.
Layers of clothing appropriate to the temperature and the season – in winter the children will need at least three layers to keep warm. It is best to avoid cotton next to the skin as it absorbs water. It is always better to be hot and take layers off, then to be cold with nothing to put on!
These should be old clothes or clothes that parents/carers do not mind getting dirty.
Please send your child’s uniform in with them in a bag, so they can change should their Forest School clothes become dirty/wet
School will provide waterproof trousers and waterproof coats where needed.
Many thanks,
Mrs Gould and Mrs Day

Dear RB Parent/Carer,
We are having a fabulous time in our Forest School sessions. As the weather is becoming significantly colder, can you please ensure that your child comes to school prepared in several layers of clothing, the warmest coat that they have, gloves, hats and and extra pair of thick woolly socks for wellies. If your child needs to wear school wellies, they still require an extra pair of thick socks. Please send your child with an extra pair of shoes as it is not possible for them to wear wellies/outdoor shoes in class due to the wet and mud.
When we go into the forest the ideal way to layer clothing is; long sleeved T-shirt, Fleece or jumper, if your child is likely to feel the cold then please add extra layers, it's much better for them to be too warm rather than too cold. Leggings underneath tracksuit bottoms is a good way to keep legs warm.
We are doing everything we can to keep everyone warm through exciting activities, movement and our heated Bell tent, however, it is a lot colder and more layers will help the children get the most out of this fantastic experience.
Thank you for your continued support.
Miss Bevan and Mrs Kentish

Dear Parent/carer
The children have been working very hard with phonics and blending to read. After Christmas, in January, we will be starting Reading Afternoons on a Friday. This will enable the Class Teacher to listen to every child read. There will also be a range of reading and comprehension activities for the children to complete independently. Can you please ensure that your child brings their reading books to school every Friday, in addition to the day that they have them changed. We would ask that you continue to read with your children at home and to develop and foster a love of reading.
The first Reading Afternoon will be Friday 12th January 2024.
Just to confirm RGD book change Monday, RB book change Tuesday, RH book change Thursday. All classes to bring books every Friday.
Have a great holiday and see you in the New Year.
Reception Teachers.

We would love to see more of what your child is doing at home, to celebrate their successes and to gain a deeper understanding of their learning journey.
It would be beneficial to your child's progress if you were able to share some excellent experiences or work with the staff.
We look forward to receiving them back soon. Thank you for your support and participation.

Dear Parents / Carers
Bollywood and Bhangra – Non-Uniform
We have arranged for our EYFS children to take part in a Bollywood and Bhangra Workshop at school on Friday 12th November 2021 to tie in with our ‘Celebration’ topic. Children can come in non-uniform, suitable for dance and movement activities on this day (EYFS children only).
Bollywood and Bhangra Dancing is a very big part of Indian culture and festival celebrations. The workshop will include:
• An explanation of the history and heritage of Indian dance
• Learning a fun, dynamic Bollywood dance routine
• Listening to lively, upbeat music
• A costume demonstration
• Lots of fun and learning about another culture through dance
• Learning basic Indian greetings and phrases
We are asking for a contribution of £3.00 towards the cost of the workshop. Please refer to our Charging Policy for further details. Please log onto your child’s ParentPay account to enable you to make payment for this activity and to give your consent by Wednesday 10th November 2021.
Thank you if you have already responded and given consent.
Yours sincerely

Dear parents and carers
Can we ask Reception children to bring in a photo of themselves as a baby for an RE session next week?
Photos will be returned to children.
Many thanks
Reception Team
Dear Parents and Carers
Mrs Gould and Mrs Day are currently absent from school.
Therefore, class RGD’s Parents Evenings will be unable to take place on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th October.
Parents Evening for RGD will be moved to the following week, so will now take place on Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 20th October. We may have to make small amendments to some time slots, but we will inform parents of any change via text message.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS ONLY FOR RGD - ALL OTHER PARENTS EVENING APPOINTMENTS WILL TAKE PLACE AS PLANNED.
Kind Regards

Dear parents and carers
Nursery and Reception (EYFS) - Let's do it day
On Tuesday 28th September, the children can come into school wearing autumn colours - oranges, greens, browns or similar.
They will spend the day taking part in autumn activities, such as leaf printing and salt dough hedgehogs.
If you are going on any walks between now and Tuesday please could you collect some leaves, acorns, conkers, pine cones and any other natural objects you think link to Autumn? Please can they be brought into school on Monday and Tuesday next week to use for our activities during the day.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
