Dear Parents/Carers,
We are writing to inform you that due to COVID and the disruption to learning over the past 2 years, we have decided as a team to change the Disney production this year to allow children to catch up with other areas of the curriculum. Due to timescales, we feel it would not be feasible to rehearse and perform a live production, that the children would be proud of and enjoy. Rather than put the children through the pressure of learning lines, dances and songs in a short period of time, we have decided that our Year 1 Disney Production will be a simplified recorded version, with the children singing and dancing some of their favourite Disney songs.
I do hope you understand that the decision has not been taken lightly and we recognise that some parents may be disappointed, but we feel the time required to complete a performance of quality would take away the children from exciting curriculum we have planned, for too long creating further gaps. I am sure you understand that the children are working incredibly hard to close the gaps which were created throughout lockdown and we would like to continue with this in a consistent manner.
Please rest assured that we are making the curriculum engaging and exciting for the children and as part of this we look forward to welcoming you to our Design and Technology Day on Friday 1st April.
As the production will not be live, you will be contacted when the video is available to watch on the Abbey Federation website. If you do not wish for your child to be filmed for the video that will be uploaded to the video resource centre, please email y1@abbey-inf.sandwell.sch.uk to let staff know. If this is the case, your child will not be visible in the video, but will still take part in learning the dances and songs.
If we do hear from you by Monday 14th March 2022, we will take your photo consent from the Data Collection Form you completed this academic year.
Thank you for your continued support.
