This week, Reception enjoyed their second Forest School session and had a wonderful time becoming more familiar with our outdoor space. Our main focus was learning how to use the fire circle safely. The children practised listening carefully, following our safety rules and collecting sticks. They showed great responsibility as they learned how to carry sticks safely around the site.

A small group also began learning how to use a bow saw with Mrs Kentish (Mrs K). They worked carefully and patiently, taking turns and developing confidence with this new tool. We will continue this activity next week so that every child has the opportunity to have a turn.

There was lots of exciting learning happening across the site. Children enjoyed making bird feeders, exploring the water area and helping to dig over the wildflower meadow. Others created giant pieces of art on a tarp, experimenting with a range of unusual tools and materials.

Throughout the session, the children had many chances to investigate cause and effect, work collaboratively, share ideas and be creative. It was particularly lovely to hear the thoughtful conversations taking place as they explored, problem-solved and learned together.
