Year 1 Forest School: Welcome Back, 1C!

Year 1 Class 1C had a fantastic first Forest School session back, and the children were clearly delighted to return to the woodland.
We began with a lively game of “1, 2, 3, Where Are You?”, which encouraged everyone to listen carefully, move confidently around the site and enjoy being together outdoors.
The children were then excited to revisit some of their favourite activities. The mud kitchen was a real hive of creativity, with a delicious-looking feast of cakes, fruit drinks, eggs and many other imaginative creations being prepared. There was also plenty of water play, as children used guttering to transport water, made bubbles with whisks, experimented with giant bubbles, and poured, mixed and stirred potions. Herbs and berries were used to create all kinds of interesting colours and smells.
Elsewhere, children explored the sandpit, challenged themselves on the slack-line and painted on the tarp using a wide variety of tools. These activities offered valuable opportunities to develop fine and gross-motor skills, communication, cooperation and imaginative thinking, while connecting with nature and enjoying the wellbeing benefits of time outdoors.
Unfortunately, we do not have many photographs from this session, as we were all so busy settling back into Forest School and enjoying the activities. We will make sure to take more photographs next time so that you can see even more of the children’s outdoor learning and creativity.

In three weeks (1C's next session) , we will begin making seed balls to help re-seed our mini wildflower meadow and other areas of the Forest School site. We will also begin introducing tools in our second session.
