A Sunny Session for 1RP!

On Wednesday morning, it was 1RP’s turn for a wonderful Forest School session!

The children remembered the fire circle rules beautifully and impressed Mrs K with their knowledge of plants. Using natural materials, they created pictures showing the key parts of a plant and had great fun taking photographs on the iPads. There was lots of excitement spotting tiny buds on saplings and bigger trees—signs that spring is on its way!

Afterwards, there was plenty of time for free play and exploration. Some children built dens, while others worked with loose parts, thinking carefully about how to use planks, tyres, and sticks safely. Dinosaur fossil discoveries in the sand sparked imaginative play, and some fantastic bird nests appeared (a lovely link, since birds are the closest living relatives of many dinosaurs!).

Year One also enjoyed planting primroses and pansies along the Reception fence and experimenting with colour mixing through potions and paint. Meanwhile, Mrs K was busy sawing wood with the children, ready for future outdoor art inspired by Kandinsky—the artist 1RP have been studying in class. What an inspiring and creative morning outdoors!
