Fabulous Forest Adventures: A Morning of Discovery and Play
What a wonderful morning in the forest school for our Reception class! The children were full of enthusiasm as they searched for and labelled trees, making some really thoughtful observations. We’re excited to continue learning more about our trees next week and deepen our connection with nature.
Painting ice was a huge hit—everyone loved watching the colours spread over the cold surface. The only downside was how quickly the ice melted in the sun! Potion making kept everyone busy, with lots of mixing, pouring, and experimenting using droppers, pipettes, and colourful liquids. The creativity didn’t stop there—children enjoyed imaginative play in the mud kitchen, exploring the guttering, and getting messy with sand in the sandpit.
There was plenty of fun to be had on the slack-line and in the hammocks, as well as painting under the beautiful hawthorn tree. The obstacle course was a favourite, challenging everyone to balance, jump, and crawl. A special highlight was working with Mrs Benham, who guided the children in flower hammering to create beautiful butterfly prints.
It was a morning filled with laughter, learning, and lots of imaginative play—exactly what forest school is all about!
