Forest Fun!
Reception had a wonderful time at Forest School this week!
The children began with a colour hunt, spotting all the beautiful shades of autumn around them. They loved exploring water with the guttering, pipes and sand, using their creativity to build and test out different ways to make the water move. Den building, tackling the obstacle course, balancing on the slack-line and digging in the sand pit gave plenty of chances to practise teamwork and problem-solving too.
There was great excitement when worms were discovered, and the children also enjoyed making bird feeders to hang around the site before feeding the birds. Potions, pouring and even some hammering added to the mix of activities, giving hands-on opportunities to use tools and explore safely.
We finished our session learning how to sit together in the fire circle. After snack, we enjoyed playing “Stick Stick Fire” – a brilliant way to end a busy, creative morning outdoors.
