Each class will have a P.E. lesson each week. These will be on the following days:
1G – Friday
1DP – Thursday
1L – Tuesday
Please ensure that your child has a named P.E. kit in school (white t-shirt, blue shorts and black pumps). It is advisable that long hair is tied back and that earrings are not worn on your child’s P.E. days.
We will shortly be setting Homework via online programmes. Your child will receive individual login details to allow them to access the homework. The activities set will be relevant to the work your child is currently learning and we hope that they will enjoy the process of completing their homework online.
Spellings will be given out to the children every half term and will be checked on Friday. Children will be taught different spelling patterns and rules closely linked to our Phonics lessons at school. Additionally, you can help your child to learn the 'common exception words.' These are the words the children are expected to read and spell correctly. You will find links to the common exception and high frequency words, together with spelling lists, in the section below (useful links).
Please hear your child read as many times as possible throughout the week and comment in their reading diary so that books can be changed. Please ensure that your child has their reading book/s and reading record book in school every day as they may read to a Reading Volunteer. It is essential that books are sent into school on the following days:
1DP - Wednesday
1L - Monday
Many thanks for your support and co-operation. Please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Year 1 Team should you have any further questions.
