Good morning Reception! Today we have a Phonics activity, English and Maths.
A big thank you to parents and carers for your continued support! A big well done to all the children for working hard at home :)
We all can't wait to see you tomorrow!
Time for a phonic challenge!
*Play a game with your grown-up. Ask your grown-up to read a sound to you. Can you write the sound down? You could use different colours.
*Can you choose some sounds from the phase 2/3 sound mats and make a word to write in the phoneme frames below. You can ask your grown up to draw the phoneme frames with 2/3 boxes. If you would like to extend this activity for a challenge, your grown up can draw a phoneme frame with 4 boxes. Remember one sound in one box. You can also use last week’s phonics videos and your reading books to help you find words to write. (see examples below)
You can post your work on the class padlets!
See you tomorrow!
Hi everyone, today is our last day of home learning before we come back to school tomorrow. You have done an amazing job.
We are going to write about the second part of our T4W story Harry and the Dinosaurs Have a Happy Birthday.
This is the second part of the story:
By 4 o’clock, everything was ready.
Everyone had their party outfits on.
They all went into the garden.
Use the sentence: Everyone had their party outfits on.
What words can you think of to describe the party outfits?
What colour might they be?
Can you draw your own party outfit and label it? You can label it with colours and describing words.
Word ideas for parents – stylish, sparkly, pretty, bright, colourful
Post your lovely party outfits on the class padlets.
Your work at home last week was amazing Reception, well done. I saw lots of lovely pizzas and some great games with your toys and building blocks.
This week we are learning about 2d shapes.
Listen to this fun shape song.
Now, how many shapes can you remember?
Play this game to see which shapes you know.
Shape hunt - can you go on a shape hunt around your house and look for objects which are a circle, square, rectangle or triangle shape?
Ask an adult to make a sheet for you on a piece of paper (see example below).
You can write the names of the objects you find or draw pictures of them.
Post your work on the padlet. Have fun!
Go to the Video Resource Centre to hear Mrs Jones read a story!
Friday 27th November
Good morning everyone! Not long until we are back next week. We hope you have had a great week and have enjoyed the activities the teachers have set for you.

Happy Birthday to Sleepy, Saffire and Bailey!
Activity: Can you make a birthday card for your Bailey/Saffire/Sleepy? You can post a picture of your birthday card on the class Padlet. Bailey, Saffire and Sleepy will be so happy to get their birthday cards.
They can’t wait to see you at their birthday party on Tuesday.
Follow the link below to try our counting song for today.
Today I would like you to play a counting game. (I have put some photos below to show you what it looks like).
You will need:
Building blocks/Lego/Duplo (if you haven’t got these then other objects e.g. pasta, pegs will be fine)
The game –
☆You need to line your teddies/dolls up and give each of them a number from 1 – 6. You can write the numbers on pieces of paper.
☆Then roll the dice and count the dots on the dice to see what number you have rolled.
☆Next, find the teddy/doll which has that number and give them a building block or object. E.g. if you roll and count 6 dots then give teddy with the number 6 a building block.
☆Roll again and repeat.
You could take it in turns with an adult to roll the dice.
(You might want to have 10 rolls of the dice and then stop or wait until one of your towers falls down, it’s up to you)
☆When you have finished, count how many blocks/objects each teddy has.
Who has the most blocks?
Who has the least?
How many more do they have than each other?
Can you put them in order from the teddy with the smallest number of blocks to the teddy with the largest number of blocks?
Have fun and take photos for us and post them onto your class padlet!
This week has been all about birthdays and parties so we thought we would see if you would like to bake a cake at home.
Below is a recipe for a delicious Chocolate Cake. It has been tried and tested by Mrs Day and her children and got a big thumbs up.
If you would like to have a go then please post pictures of your cakes onto the padlet so we can all see how tasty they look.
Chocolate Cake recipe
5oz self-raising flour
2oz brown sugar (can use white if haven’t got brown)
2 tbsp golden syrup
1 tbsp cocoa powder
6 floz milk
Melt the butter, sugar and golden syrup in a saucepan.
Pour the flour into a mixing bowl.
Sift in the cocoa powder and mix.
Add the milk to the flour.
Then pour in the sugar mixture.
Mix until combined.
Line a cake tin with baking paper and pour the mixture into the cake tin. (it should be quite a runny mixture).
Bake for about 25 minutes at 180 degrees.
You can leave it plain or decorate with melted chocolate or chocolate icing.
A picture of Mrs Day's is below - we had a party for my son's teddy. Some got eaten before we had even blown out the candles, apparently it was teddy who ate it!
You can follow this link to the video resource centre on the website and watch a video where Mrs Day will teach you how to make a paper lantern. This is a lovely decoration for Christmas or a party.
(picture example below).
Today Miss Supple is reading 'When the Dragons Came'. Please follow the link to see the story:

We have been so impressed by your maths activities from yesterday that you have been putting on the class padlets. We're sure you will be able to put even more great learning on today.
Let's start with a song. Follow the link for a count to 20 song which involves a bit of exercise too! Everyone has been asking for this one again so here is!
Now have a look on the video resources centre for your maths lesson today all about finding 1 less. You might need a ruler or help from an adult to draw a number line to 10.
Remember you can pause the video at any point for thinking and talking time or to get items that can help you with the lesson.

Education City - Subjects - FS2 - Activities
It’s party time soon! It’s our class bears/dragons birthday on Friday.
Activity: Have a think about what party food we will need at the party and make invitations too. Use your sounds to make a list of party food or an invitation. Try and use your phonics to sound out each word, for example pop p-o-p and crisps c-r-i-s-p-s. Use the pictures an idea, but make sure you have a go at sounding out each word yourself.
And one last message from our class bear/dragon!!
We have been listening to different pieces of music in class. Remember we have been thinking about the way they make us feel. Did they make you feel happy, excited, frightened, sad ? Have a chat with your adult about other feelings you might have.
Follow the link below and listen to about a minute of 'Mars' from the Planet Suite by Holst. Close your eyes. Have a chat with your adult. How does it make you feel? What instruments can you hear?
Now open your eyes and listen to a bit more of the music. Are any of you pretending to be the conductor; the lady waving the baton (stick) at the front? I was! Can you see any instruments you thought of? Are there instruments you've never seen before? Have a chat with your adult about it.
Now follow the link below to have a go at some different music activities. The one activity we would like everyone to do is Feel the Beat using the Song 'Be in the Band' as we have been practising keeping the 'pulse' (beat) in class. Then you can have some fun on the other activities. Let us know on the padlet which activity and song you like best. Good luck adults!
The link will take you to the 'Bring the Noise Play it' page. Once there press the arrow twice. A screen will come up with 'Listen and Layer', 'Feel the Beat' and 'Make some Noise' on. Click on Feel the Beat in the middle of the screen and use the arrows on the right or left of the screen to find the Song 'Be in the Band'. You do need to press either arrow a number of times. When you find 'Be in the Band' press on the triangle and listen to the instructions that the lady automatically says. Have Fun!

We are really impressed with your fantastic writing yesterday; you all thought of lovely ideas and came up with very creative adjectives. Well done.
Andy from Andy’s Dinosaur Adventures has sent us a video! Watch it here...
He would like to know what your favourite dinosaur is and to write a fact about it.
My favourite dinosaur is a diplodocus. It has a very long neck and eats lots of leaves.
Activity: Use paper at home to draw, make marks and write about your favourite dinosaur. Send them to the class Padlet so we can show Andy!
Here are some of Andy’s Dinosaur Adventures episodes:
We can’t wait to see which dinosaur you choose.
Please follow the PSED powerpoint above.Select two teddies that are very similar in size. Can you build a house for each of the teddies. What could we use in the room? Together with the help of a grown up you can construct houses for the teddies to live in.
You can use lego bricks, loose material, pegs, pillows etc. Anything around the house.. But first you need to have your grown ups permission
You can post pictures of the houses you have built for your teddies on your class padlet.

Monday 23rd November
We hope you are all ok and staying safe. All the teachers are working super hard at home and are planning really fun activities for you to complete. Today we have Phonics, English, Maths, an R.E. lesson and a story!
Please follow the video below. You can pause the video at different points to practise words/sounds with your grown up.
Let's start with a song. Follow the link to sing 1,2, Buckle My Shoe
Now have a look at the attached powerpoint about comparing groups within 10. Remember you can stay on a slide while you try to do the activities on it.
Today we are looking at using adjectives to improve sentences in the first part of our Talk 4 Writing story ‘Harry and the Dinosaurs Have a Happy Birthday’.
Activity: Watch the video 'English 23.11.20' from our Video Resource Centre to see the lesson and activity. You can find this on the Video Resource Centre tab on our homepage. It's under the Reception Remote Learning folder.
You can use this picture of the sound mat to help you during your activity.
Today we are looking at ‘The Nativity Story’, The Nativity Story is the story about the birth of Jesus Christ. This is a very special celebration for Christians.
Please see the video from our Video Resource Centre.
You can also watch it here:
Activity: Can you draw and label your own nativity scene, post pictures of the Nativity scene using Padlet?
Follow the link below to hear today's story for pleasure, 'Alan's Big Scary Teeth'.
Can you practise writing these tricky words you have learnt so far, you can ask a grown up to help you look, cover and write.
Your next challenge is to blend words using the sound buttons and reading the tricky words, in the sentences below.
Our Talk 4 Writing is 'Harry and the Dinosaurs Have a Happy Birthday', here is the YouTube link if you haven't got the book at home https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uv6gSILcAkk.
Children have been working super hard to follow the story map and learn the actions.
Use the video below to practice our Talk 4 Writing story:
Let's start with a number song you probably know. here is the link to 1,2,3,4,5, Once I Caught a Fish Alive https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ir_l7qTiZ4
Now choose two numbers between 2 and 10 and find lots of different ways to represent them. Try to use at least one number from 6-10. You can use anything around your house - the more unusual the better! For example you could use lego or sticks from your garden to make a big tens frame to count your toys in. You might want to draw or write your ideas. It is your choice. How many different ways can you make your numbers?
Don't forget to ask an adult if you are allowed to use items that are not yours!
Here is a simple example of what you could do. I'm sure yours will be even better.
What number do you think was chosen?
Can you say and write one more and one less than your chosen numbers?
Can you double your numbers?
Can you write the words for your numbers for example, five.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
