Day 1 - 27.02.17
We arrived safely at approximately 11 o'clock with a loud cheer from all of the children! After making their beds and unpacking their cases, the children all sat down to a lovely cooked meal of pizza and beans! We then set off to begin our shelter building in the woods, in which we experienced all 4 seasons in the space of only a couple of hours! The children worked extremely well in their teams and all produced some fantastic shelters as you can see from the photos! After a battle against the wifi here at Edgmond, we have uploaded the first batch of photos and there will be more to come a little later on this evening! The children have had a lovely fish and chip supper followed by homemade apple crumble (yummy)! The children will be split into 3 groups tomorrow and sent off on various activities. Log in tomorrow to find out what we have all been up to!
The year 4 team.
Day 2- 28.2.17
children all had a settled nights sleep. Just about to have breakfast after job duty.
Day 2 (2) - 28.2.17
The children have now been split in to their groups and have been off on their activities all day. Miss Rockett's group have been on a 5 mile hike across Wenlock Edge. Mr Jones' group has learnt about food chains, experienced a blind line trail and created dreamcatchers inspired by the BFG! Mr Postin and Mr Hayat's group has been re-enacting Roald Dahl's story of 'The Minpins', creating their own monsters, making fires and making their own Minpin villages in the woods. Photos to follow.
Day 3 1.3.17. 8am
After a busy day yesterday the children had a great night's sleep and are really excited about another busy day. Just doing their jobs before breakfast.
Day 4- 2.3.17
All the children had a good night. Soon off for their activities. The sun is shining.
Day 5. Coming home day.
the children had a very quiet and calm evening. I think we have finally exhausted them!
The children are all up and are removing their sheets and cases into the laundry bins. Soon they will be packing. Then breakfast, orienteering. And home!
Mr. Jones' Group
Today we explored the story of 'The Minpins.'
We listened to the story at different points of the story, even in the woods! A different
experience for many of us. The first thing we did was to create the monster of the 'Forest
of Sin' in a woodland area. Then we created a miniature Minpin village in the classroom.
It was back into another part of the woods to find the birds that help the Minpins. The last
bird to find was the swan, who had to avoid the creature and lead him into the lake.
Photos will follow when the Internet is up and running. We are experiencing problems.
Day 4 - Mr. Jones' Group
Today we took a walk around Wenlock Edge. On our 5-mile trek we discovered badgers' setts; tasted
wild garlic; saw views of the Wrekin and other hills; played with clay on cliffs made of clay; found
fossils of ancient sea life; learned about the quarrying history of the area.
