Please learn your spellings for the appropriate week as normal. The lists are attached below.
The spellings will be tested on the normal day which is Tuesday.
We hope you are all keeping safe. We are now in lockdown again and so school and learning will be a little different for us all, including the teachers!
Some children are staying at home and doing remote learning and others will be coming into school as they are key worker children.
This page will have regular updates with a timetable and any other information that you may need during this time.
If your teacher does not reply straight away, please be patient as they may be in school teaching key worker children or may be preparing videos and lessons for remote learning. As we need a break too, we will be taking a break each day at 4:30pm. We will reply to emails and Padlet updates the next day!
Missing your teacher and friends? Welcome to our well-being social group meeting!
Year 4 teachers will be holding this meeting every week on a Monday at 9:00am.
You will be invited to this session via a link sent to you by email, every week is the same link. When joining the meeting please put your child's name as the user so we can see who is attending, otherwise we cannot accept the child into the meeting.
You do not need to download the Microsoft Teams app to access this session.
Please note, this meeting will not be a lesson, but a well-being catch- up and opportunity for the children to see their friends and teacher.
We hope that your child can join us!
Epic Books is an online platform that provides online reading for children. There are lots of different books on there for all different ages. We have now set up an account where you can go on and read books of your choosing and enjoy!
You each have an individual account on there, for set up instructions, please see instructions below.
Let us know if you have any difficulties.
1. Go to www.getepic.com/students
2. Enter class code hqy4274
3. Select your name and start reading!

The Masked Reader
On Thursday, it is World Book Day, so you will see lots of activities and links on here this week related to reading. As we can’t all be in school at the moment, we’re doing something a little different this year. All of the teachers have disguised themselves whilst reading a short story or an extract from a book! Do you think you will be able to unmask each of the readers?
Click on this link to find more information and watch all of the videos:
https://www.abbeyfederation.co.uk/world-book-day-2021/
Answers will be revealed on Friday, so you can take your time listening to the stories throughout the week.
Happy reading!

Theme - Nature week : If you are able to get outdoors, take a walk with members of your family, if not look out your window, what can you hear, see, smell, touch and taste (don’t eat any random leaves/berries)
Otis in 4S has been volunteering and helping out collecting for the food bank. He has been collecting food from doorsteps on his street throughout the lockdown. His road set up the collections in April and Otis' mum tells us that one quarter of Smethwick Food Bank donations come directly from Bearwood streets. Even Park Road was featured on ITV News! Otis has been a great helping hand and helping out has been one of the highlights of his week. He has also been helped by Joshua Stranger (4RC) Well done boys, what helping heroes!

In the phonics/handwriting/free reading slot, if children attend phonics then please access the material through the Year 3 remote learning on the Video Resource Centre, otherwise children can practise their handwriting by writing out their spellings or maybe copying a piece of text from a book? Or they can choose a book of their own and read for pleasure.

Miss Hinton loves PE and she really likes us all to be fit, healthy and active.
So, she has created her very own version of the popular board game Monopoly in a PE version for you to play at home.
It is great fun! The board and the rules and everything you need are attached in the documents below.
Have fun playing! Maybe you could post feedback for the game on your class Padlet page?
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
